Genesis Youth Foundation invites you to join us for our third annual I Am Africa fundraising event on September 26, 2020 at 5 p.m. Genesis Youth Foundation is an organization that works to level the playing field for immigrant and refugee youth and families in the Des Moines metro area through athletics, the arts, and academics. This year’s fundraiser will highlight the ongoing journey of GYF: where we’ve come from, where we are now, and where we are going. Come experience our year in review, learn how the GYF community has grown, and hear the 2020 vision for our youth and our organization.
This will be an exciting evening for all ages filled with delicious African food, traditional and modern African dance, a presentation from Polk County Supervisor Bob Brownell about the Greater Des Moines Refugee and Immigrant Welcome Center, an award ceremony for graduates of the GYF Ubuntu Leadership Academy, and storytelling from kids and parents of Genesis who are eager to share their own immigrant journey.
Our goal is to raise $100,000 at this year’s I Am Africa event to help kick off the next phase of our trek towards a permanent home for our program. We need your help to achieve our goal; please contact us if you can assist with sponsorships, donations or ticket sales.
