About the event
What does it mean to be home? Home is a place of safety, acceptance, and community; a place where people are happy to see you. Home can also be a place you had to leave behind in order to find sanctuary and opportunity. Genesis Youth Foundation works to level the playing field for immigrant and refugee youth and families making a new home in the Des Moines metro area. This year’s I Am Africa fundraiser on October 2nd will be an exciting evening for all ages filled with delicious African food, traditional and modern African dance, recognition of student achievements, and storytelling from Genesis kids and parents who are eager to share their stories of creating a home in Iowa.
Help us reach our fundraising goal of $20,000 and join the village providing access to opportunity and empowering GYF youth. Save the date for October 2nd and help level the playing field for youth in Central Iowa.
