Genesis Youth Foundation is pleased to announce our 2nd annual I AM Africa event! I AM Africa will take place on March 30, 2019 at Franklin Junior High, located at 4801 Franklin Ave, Des Moines, IA 50310, from 5-8pm. Please join us as we showcase African culture through food and entertain; offer insights into our local refugee and immigrant community; and raise awareness for the mission and members of Genesis Youth Foundation.
We have a wonderful evening planned. It is with sincere pleasure that we welcome keynote speaker retired Banker Trust CEO, Mr. Suku Radia. Mr. Radia, an immigrant from Uganda, will focus his remarks on African immigrant and refugee community challenges and strengths. Attendees will also be treated to performances by our youth; they will be performing both contemporary and traditional African dance. African food will be served as well, lovingly prepared by Genesis Youth Foundation parents. In addition, silent auction items will be available, with many items hand-crafted by our local African community members.
Cost of admission: Adult - $25 in advance/$30 at the door; Children - $10 in advance/$15 at the door.
