Culturally Appropriate Food Giveaway

Genesis Youth Foundation (GYF) and its community partners are pleased to announce the 3rd annual holiday food grocery giveaway on Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM. The event will be taking place at the Hope+Elim building, 2500 university Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50311.

 

The Giving Table Food Giveaway will feature culturally appropriate food that is familiar to African refugee and immigrant families, although anyone in central Iowa experiencing food insecurity is welcome to receive food, while supplies last. This year's event will include health assessment component where community members will have the opportunity to assess their blood pressure and blood sugar levels.

Community Members--we need you!
Help us make this event a success and donate culturally appropriate food for families around Central Iowa. We are accepting monetary or grocery donations such as rice, pinto beans (dried or canned), cassava leaf, fresh fruits and vegetables, oil, flour, and more. The last day to donate groceries will be Friday, December 16th. Questions?
